The Varsity team had a full weekend, hosting a quad with St. Laurence. St. Ignatius, and St. Patrick high schools Friday night and competing in the Prospect Tournament Saturday.
The action got underway Friday against St. Laurence and new head coach Jim Gahagan, who is also the head coach of the South Side Stallions IKWF wrestling club. After several close matches, the Vikings got the better of the Friars.
Next up the Friars went against CCL rival St. Ignatius. This dual was very close, however the Friars secured the victory following several close matches, including a terrific victory by senior Emerson Harris over #10 Michael Shanahan of St. Ignatius.
To end the night, the Friars took on the St. Patrick Shamrocks in the next chapter of a building rivalry. Despite pins by sophomore Dominic Daley and Freshman Steven Barshop, the dual was won by the visiting Shamrocks.
Finally on Saturday, the Friars placed 14th at the Prospect High School Mudge/McMorrow Wrestling Invitational. Ben Uphues placed 4th and Dominic Daley placed 8th for the Friars.
