Summer League Off To A Great Start

The Friars are full of young, committed wrestlers who are excited to take every opportunity to improve and get better! So far, there are a total of 16 Friars signed up for summer action and the numbers are growing.

The guys have been bee coming out all summer, despite many other summer commitments. In true Friar fashion, the wrestlers are balancing football, soccer, school, family time, and other commitments beautifully. Nevertheless, the wrestling room has had a great amount of wrestlers in it who are looking for as much action as they can get their hands on!

The first night of competition saw the Friars travel to York High School to take part in the opening night of action in the Summer League. We were represented by next years Juniors, Sophomore, and even incoming freshman. In that night alone, guys were able to get 5 matches a piece. Next up, the Friars headed south to Reavis High School. Again, the team was represented by all ages and the boys were eager to compete. Newcomer Christian Davila made a statement in his first action wearing the shield by challenging only varsity wrestlers from rival schools. He spent the night going up against bigger and more experienced wrestlers. If he has half as much talent as he has guts, there will be much success for him over the next 4 years! Other wrestlers included Dominic and Joe Daley as well as Al Aguilar and Steven Barshop, who notched his 31st match since the conclusion of the 2014 season!

No doubt all the hard work will pay tremendous dividends come next season. As the Friars embark on a new era, it is clear that the main ingredient to future success will be good old fashioned hard work with a dash of sweat!
