Tony Poro Takes Over As Head Coach

In looking for the right person to head up the Fenwick Wrestling Program, Fenwick High School did not have to look far. In an email to team parents Athletic Director Scott Thies wrote, "I am excited to announce Tony Poro as the new head coach of the Fenwick Wrestling Program.  Over the past few years, it is very clear that Tony loves Fenwick, loves working with kids, and cares deeply about Fenwick wrestling.  Coach Poro is dedicated to the kids in the program and is in the process of setting his vision of the program moving forward."

Since being named head coach, things have been very busy. Poro has spent the summer working with returning wrestlers and helping them improve. "We've had our guys getting into the weight room, practicing, and participating in a summer league to get as many matches as they can in the offseason. The recipe for success is simple - a lot of hard work."
Tony Poro has been involved in Fenwick Wrestling since before he was in high school, wrestling for the Fenwick Falcons pee wee wrestling team. As a Friar Poro was a team captain before wrestling for two season at Triton College. Poro joined the Fenwick High School coaching staff in 2009 as an assistant, and is now ready to take the lead as head coach. "Great coaches should help you become a better man, then a better athlete. I am excited to get to work with our guys, and to help grow our program," Poro said.
