Friars Hopeful Early Season Tournaments Will Lead To Dual Success

The first month of competition is nearing an end, and the Friars find themselves with a 3-3 dual meet record. The early part of the season has been heavy with tournaments, with the guys competing in the Guerin, Hinsdale South, and Prospect Tournaments. Here is a summary of the results:

Guerin
Dominic Daley - 4th
Adam Aguilar - 5th
Al Aguilar - 6th
Chris Hawthorne - 5th

Hawthorne went 3-1 on the day with the lone loss coming in the first round to the eventual champion 6-4.

Hinsdale South
Al Aguilar - 2nd
Chris Hawthorne - 2nd

Both made it to the finals and faced the #10 2A and #2 3A wrestlers in the state (as ranked by www.illinoismatmen.com)

Prospect
Al Aguilar - 6th

"Tournaments are all about being prepared for the grind of a long day." said Coach Poro. "Our guys are still getting their legs under them and getting settled into their weight classes. We've got some guys sitting out, so we're looking forward to getting back to full strength."

Senior Ben Uphues (160), and Juniors Kevin Latz (138) and Louis Waddle (HWT) and still coming back from long absences. Their return should boost the Friars as they will compete in seven dual meets over the Christmas break.
